As the ultimate Lunar New Year of the Dragon Gala, the annual Fête Chinoise Signature Event, Toronto’s most stylish gala celebrating contemporary Chinese Canadian culture, presented great musical performances by top popular singers Tyler Shaw and Alex Porat doing a duet of Alex’s hit song HateLove, plus top soul singer Sean Jones amongst the live entertainment during the exciting elegant evening at the luxurious Park Hyatt in Toronto’s posh Yorkville area. While the fashionable celebrants were enjoying the delicious Chinese cuisine with Veuve Clicquot Champagne and Hennessy Cognac, Deborah Lau-Yu, the artistic director, announced the formation of the Fête Chinoise Cultural Foundation to begin to raise funds for charitable causes. Along with the performance of the traditional Lion Dance was the special Dragon Dance to commemorate the onset of the powerful and lucky Year of the Dragon. The elegant audience was mesmerized by the dancing Lion and Dragon weaving through the exquisitely-designed dining tables shaped like dragons.
